Istrouma Area Council

2013 National Scout Jamboree Program

NOTE:  This is the last call for the Istrouma Area Council’s (IAC) Jamboree Program! While IAC has filled its authorized troop allocations for the 2013 National Scout Jamboree, the council has been given an extension until the end of May 2012, to be able to fill an additional troop and a Venturing patrol. After that date, the IAC will only be able to accommodate additional slots if a scout already signed up drops out.

Sign up now for the 2013 National Scout Jamboree to be held July 15-24, 2013. This will be the exciting first year at the jamboree’s new permanent 10,000 acre home at The Summit in the Appalachian Mountains of West Virginia. In addition to mountain boarding, aquatics, shooting sports, and all of the usual great jamboree fun (ask those who have been to jamboree), the 2013 National Jamboree will offer real mountain climbing and repelling, whitewater rafting, and a canopy (treetop) system of zip lines- one of the longest zip line courses in North America! (Click here to see video and learn more about these great activities!)

Istrouma Area Council scouts will travel to and from jamboree by motor coach, stopping overnight in Tennessee. Travel is anticipated to begin on or about July 13, 2013, returning to Louisiana on July 16, 2013. Contact Roslyn Davidson in the Scout Office at 225 926-2697 or rsdavidson@cox.net or see the IAC application for more information. Or, contact one of the following IAC jamboree adult leaders:
