Quality Unit Requirements Revised for 2007

Total Quality Program is the Goal!

World Scouting turns 100 years old in 2010 and, as part of the Boy Scouts of America's participation in this world-wide observance, the requirements for the Quality Unit award have been changed dramatically.  First of all, the unit itself has the opportunity to establish its OWN GOALS in a number of areas.  These areas include the number of youth to recruit and retain, the number of adult leaders to recruit and the percent of your adult leaders that will complete at least the basic training for their registered position.

Naturally, there are still some standards to achieve as well including percent of youth who advance in rank, who participate in outdoor programs, a planned program and adequate budget to fund that program.  Support of and participation in Friends of Scouting and the council product sale ("Boy Scout Popcorn") are also included here.

Finally, the unit, in cooperation with their Unit Commission, can set additional goals as needed.

Trained, active leaders are happier and more productive and they will provide a well-planned and adequately funded program which will recruit and retain more youth who will advance farther, attend more camps, sell more popcorn and increase their families support of the unit, district and council in all areas.  This is a win-win-win and it all begins--and ends--with quality program!
