Assistant Chief Scout Executive - Chief Operating Officer
Wayne Brock was selected Assistant Chief Scout Executive in fall 2007. In this role, he is the BSA’s Chief Operating Officer with responsibility for the four regional offices; the Council Solutions Group, which provides technical support to councils in the areas of program, membership and finances; the Outdoor Adventures Group, which includes the three national High-Adventure Bases; all national meetings;
the 2010 National Jamboree; the Marketing Group, which includes brand management, public relations, the 100th Anniversary of Scouting project, Web sites, and publications including Scouting and Boys’ Life magazines; the Innovation and Strategy Group, which includes research, program content and design, and strategic planning; the International Department; and Learning for Life.
Wayne began his career in 1972 as a district executive in New Bern, N.C., and then served on the staff in Knoxville, Tenn. He also served successfully as Scout executive in Orlando, Fla. In November 2005, he was named regional director of the Southern Region, which is comprised of 13 states and serves more than 1.4 million youth.
He received a Bachelor of Music Education degree from East Carolina University.
Wayne and his wife, Ernestine, have a grown son and an 11-year-old granddaughter, Katie.
