We are pleased to offer this exciting medium as a resource for all
individuals involved in the Scouting program. A list of phone numbers and

Notice:
Criminal Background Checks
Change Per BSA Registration Service
As
dedicated BSA volunteers, you understand the importance of keeping our
youth safe in the Scouting program. To ensure Youth Protection, our
organization has conducted criminal background checks on all new
volunteers since April 2003. Because some volunteers have been
continually registered in the program before April 2003, some have not
had a criminal background check. In the next few months, we will be
communicating with those volunteers on this issue.
The
Boy Scouts of America has informed us that on June 1, 2008, all
volunteer, staff, or registered members, who have not had a CBC
conducted will receive a letter via US mail from Chief Scout Executive,
Bob Mazzuca, or Exploring LFL director, John Anthony. This letter will
include instructions for the member, along with their BSA member ID
number, a unique password and contact information for our council.
This letter will direct them to a secure Website especially setup for
the
CBC.
At this
Website, they will be asked to review a disclosure and authorization
statement. If they agree, then they will be prompted to enter their
Social Security Number to conduct the background check. If they choose
to disagree, then membership with the BSA will be revoked.
This site
will be active from June 1, 2008 to August 1, 2008. All volunteers
receiving a letter will be ask to comply before August 1, 2008.
Volunteers, who receive a letter and do not complete the Website process
by
August 1,
2008, will not be able to renew their registration at recharter time
without completing a new Adult Application.
This "natural expiration" of their registration will mean that the
recharter paperwork or Internet Rechartering roster printed after August
2, 2008 will not display that volunteer's name.
Thank you
for your patience with this process as BSA seeks to comply with state
and federal law. We deeply appreciate your service to young people
through Scouting
